Losing a loved one is difficult enough

Let us help in this time of need

A Timeless Resting Place Reflecting Our Mission

At Mount Michael Benedictine Abbey, our caskets are created to reflect the simplicity, care, and devotion that are central to our Benedictine values. Thoughtfully designed and carefully crafted, they offer a meaningful and beautiful resting place, honoring the lives of loved ones with dignity and peace.

Casket sale proceeds support the mission of our monastic community, helping to sustain the Abbey’s work and ministry.

Designed with Care, Guided by Faith

Inspired by the Benedictine tradition, Mount Michael caskets embody the values of prayer, work, and simplicity. Each casket is a testament to the enduring mission of our Abbey, reflecting the care and intention that has been part of this ministry for generations.

To honor your loved one, their name is remembered for two weeks during our communal Midday Prayer, a time of reflection and prayer for the deceased.

Testimonials

Families who have chosen a Mount Michael casket often express their gratitude for the beauty and comfort it provides during a difficult time:

“It is the most beautiful and perfect place for mom to rest. Everyone was in awe at the beauty and craftsmanship of the casket.”

Design & Craftsmanship

The design for Mount Michael Benedictine Abbey’s caskets was created by Bro. Andrew Sorensen, O.S.B. (1921 – 2007). During his monastic life, Brother Andrew’s main work was that of abbey carpenter. Many of the desks, tables, and bookcases around the Abbey and School are testaments to his careful and meticulous work. As a side project, Bro. Andrew built caskets for the monastic community. Many of our deceased monks are buried in the beautiful hand-made wooden caskets crafted by Bro. Andrew. He was laid to rest in the Abbey Cemetery in a casket he had set aside as his own.

Each casket is a reflection of his skill and the spiritual legacy of Mount Michael Abbey, serving as a fitting tribute to the lives of those who have passed.
