A New Chapter Begins

A new chapter in Mount Michael’s rural heritage began this week as 23 Simmental cow-calf pairs arrived on campus to graze the former Christmas tree farm south of the Abbey.

For generations, the monks of Mount Michael have cared for this land through prayer, work, and stewardship. This effort reflects that same Benedictine spirit as we seek to restore portions of the pastureland that once played an important role in the life of our community.

The cattle come from the Volk family of Arlington, Nebraska, and proceeds from this endeavor will support the Endowment of Mount Michael Benedictine High School.

As the communities around us continue to grow, we are grateful for opportunities to preserve the rural character of Mount Michael and remain faithful stewards of the land entrusted to our care. Journey’s End Farm is alive and well.
