4th Sunday of Lent: Lift High the Cross

Fourth Sunday of Lent

“… so must the Son of Man be lifted up..
Years ago, when I was working 24 hours a day in our school, I would often hear the students say: “I am going to go lift for a while”! Of course, they were referring to going to the weight room to work-out, lifting weights.
By using the words: lifted up, Jesus meant that he would be lifted up on the cross. And so he was!
I have always appreciated the beauty in the cross — either high or situated on the horizon. Here are two of them — our Celtic cross above our chapel and the one on the horizon (behind the football field)— gift and project of Tervin Derwiler’s Eagle Scout Project.
