The Epitome of Service
All monks have talents to do lots of things. Some have formal training, while others taught themselves or learned skills on the job.
Our Br. William Dokulil is a monk of many skills. He must have just about every instrument a person could think of, and likes to try something new quite often. But what many people may know him for is his willingness to help wherever he can. Many Mount Michael students and guests know him as the greeter for Masses, aptly ready with a hymnal in hand a pleasant greeting for everyone. In the abbey, Br. William is always willing to help with dishes and wait tables, even when it is not his turn to do so, he serves with a smile.
For many years he has awakened very early in the morning to gas the cars so that no one will have a low tank of gas for their daily business. At that time, he is also the watchdog for the abbey, taking care that strange happenings are kept at bay. He is also the main caretaker of the water treatment plant and, since we no longer have a post office on our campus, makes a daily trip into Elkhorn to pick up and dispatch our mail.
What more could we ask of him? A cheerful server is he! Thank you, Br. William for all you do!
