Dedication of the Lateran Basilica with Abbot Michael

11/11/25

Abbot Michael was invited to prepare Spirit Catholic Radio listeners for last Sunday’s mass readings, during which the Church observed the Feast of the Dedication of the Lateran Basilica in Rome.

The construction of the basilica in the heart of the Roman empire is a stark symbol of perseverance during times of persecution. However, Abbot Michael explained that this day also serves to remind us about the day that Christ’s church was established in another previously hostile territory- in our own heart.

The Basilica recalls our baptismal promises and encourages us to treat one another with dignity as Temples of the Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit, come!

You can find Abbot’s full discussion from Friday November 7th here.
